The basics
What Cutflash is, and what it will open.
What is Cutflash?
Windows video culling and auto-editing software that learns your eye. Drop a folder of raw clips and it finds strong moments, builds an editable cut, grades it, adds your branding, and exports a finished short — or exports the selected moments for your NLE.
Does Cutflash cull photos too?
Yes, but photo culling is currently a limited private preview. It evaluates subject focus, blinks, exposure, bursts and duplicates while keeping the photographer in control of every pick.
What footage does it work with?
Common video formats (MOV, MP4, and more). It auto-detects log vs standard footage and grades accordingly.
Which cameras work?
Canon CR3 is confirmed — tested against real files. Cutflash accepts eighteen other RAW formats through the same decoder, but we won't claim a format we haven't tested on an actual frame. Send us one from your camera and we'll confirm it before you rely on it — and if it doesn't work yet, that's on us to fix.
Flashes and cost
What you pay for, and what you never pay for twice.
What's a “Flash”?
A Flash is one scoring pass over your clips — the unit we price on. Repeat or cached work uses no additional Flashes, so you're never double-charged to re-analyze the same footage.
Does editing use more Flashes?
You pay for the scoring pass (measured in “Flashes”). After that, building the montage, re-drafting, refining shots, and re-exporting all reuse those same scores — no extra charge. You only spend again if you scan brand-new footage.
What does a Flash cost me?
A Flash covers scanning a shoot. Culling it again, re-grading it, and exporting it again cost nothing.
What does it cost?
A Flash covers one scoring pass over your clips. Re-culling, re-grading and re-exporting an already-scanned shoot cost nothing extra. Pricing will be shared when early access opens.
Day to day
What using it actually feels like once it is running.
Do I have to accept what it picks?
No. Every pick is a suggestion you can overturn, and overturning it is how it learns you.
Can I keep working while it runs?
Yes — scoring and export run in the background, so you can do other things, and Cutflash can notify you when a run finishes. You can even point it at a parent folder of shoots and batch them all in one pass.
Does it get better over time?
Yes. Your FlashPersona learns from every cut you tweak and grade you adjust, so drafts land closer to your taste. The shared FlashHive pools what every editor teaches it, so even day one starts smart.
Do I need an internet connection?
Yes — the scoring runs in the cloud, so you'll need a connection to score and export.
Your footage and files
Where it goes, and what is never touched.
Where does my footage go? Is it private?
Cutflash runs on your own machine and works on your own footage. To pick the best moments, it sends frames to the cloud for analysis. We don't sell your data — see our Privacy Policy.
Do you touch my originals?
Never. Outputs are always new files.

Where early access stands right now.
Is this available now?
Cutflash is in a small private beta with working photographers and videographers. Places are selective and by application. Applications are not open yet, and this page will say so when they are.
Question that isn't here?
